This extension set adds one complete growing tier to the G-Tools 2 x 1 modular grow rack, gaining 40.5 cm of usable height per level. It suits growers who want to multiply canopy space vertically without expanding their footprint.

Floor space in a grow room is finite. Stacking tiers upward is the most efficient way to increase output, and this extension set makes that straightforward. Each kit raises the rack by 40.5 cm and introduces a new ebb-and-flow tray frame, ready to carry another crop cycle directly above the one below.

The four upright posts lock the new frame securely onto the existing structure. The horizontal frame members are not just structural - they act as mounting rails for the lights illuminating the tier below. This dual function keeps the overall build tidy and eliminates the need for separate light-hanging hardware between levels.

Because the system is fully modular, you can keep adding extension sets as headroom allows. A grow room with 2.4 m of usable height, for example, can comfortably accommodate a base unit plus two extension tiers. Plan your lighting selection carefully per tier: each level needs its own fixture, and G-Tools publish PPFD data for compatible lamps to help you match output to your target crop.

Pair each new tier with a Sanlight Q-series LED for efficient, low-heat illumination in the tighter vertical space between levels. Sanlight units are slim enough to fit comfortably within the 40.5 cm tier gap while delivering the PPFD levels short-cycle crops need. Add a separate timer and EC/pH management routine per tray to keep each tier dialled in independently.

Grower’s Note: With multiple tiers running in the same rack, temperature and humidity gradients become more pronounced - the uppermost tier typically runs warmer and drier. Position your climate sensors at mid-rack height as a working average, and consider a small oscillating fan between tiers to equalise airflow. Keep nutrient solution temperatures consistent across all trays; slight temperature rises in upper-tier reservoirs can accelerate E.C. drift.
