A purpose-built 2 × 0.80m flood tray in UV-stable virgin plastic, designed to pair with Danish aluminium grow tables. Ideal for growers running ebb and flow systems or drip irrigation on grow racks.
This tray measures 2m × 0.80m and is designed specifically to sit on matching aluminium grow tables, forming a completely watertight growing platform. The virgin plastic construction resists UV degradation and holds its shape under repeated wet and dry cycles. Gutters moulded into the base channel surplus solution to a recessed drainage point, keeping the surface clean and preventing stagnant puddles.
For an ebb and flow setup, connect a lead-through fitting at the drainage point and link it to a timer-controlled pump. At set intervals the pump floods the tray with nutrient solution, which pots absorb through holes in their bases. When the pump stops, solution drains back to the reservoir naturally. As the liquid recedes it pulls fresh oxygen into the root zone - a key reason ebb and flow consistently produces vigorous roots.
The same tray works equally well as a drip-irrigation catch tray. Run your supply line and drippers over the tray; a single lead-through at the drain point handles all runoff. Because the fitting type differs between the two methods, lead-throughs are not included - this keeps the tray versatile and avoids charging for hardware you may not need. Standard PVC push-fit or threaded couplings available at any UK plumber's merchant will fit the drainage point directly.
To prevent any risk of overflow during flood cycles, install one or more overflow fittings at your chosen maximum water depth. This is especially important in automated systems running overnight. Pair this tray with a G-Tools aluminium grow table for a stable, level surface, and use a quality adjustable timer to dial in flood duration and frequency to suit your substrate and canopy size.
Grower’s Note: Flood duration matters more than frequency in ebb and flow growing. In a light, fast-draining medium such as clay pebbles, two to four short floods per day is usually sufficient at peak growth. Over-flooding reduces oxygen availability at the roots. Start conservative - once or twice daily - then increase only if plants show signs of moisture stress. Always confirm the tray sits level before your first flood cycle; even a slight tilt causes uneven saturation across the growing surface.
