This G-Tools kit turns the 520 x 520 mm ebb & flow tray into a fully automated watering system from day one. It suits growers who want consistent feeding without daily intervention, whether running small pots on the flood method or larger plants on drip lines.
The kit centres on the GT 800 pump, which draws nutrient solution from the 16-litre tank and delivers it to the tray on a schedule you set. In ebb & flow mode, the tray floods at timed intervals. Plants absorb solution through holes in their pot bases, then the pump cuts out and liquid drains back to the tank via the outlet. Nothing is wasted.
Two adjustable taps give you real control. The tap on the supply line governs how quickly the tray fills. The tap on the outlet controls how fast it empties and, by extension, how long the root zone stays in contact with the solution. This matters most when you are dialling in a new strain or a new growing medium.
Switch to drip mode by clicking the included drippers onto the supply line and inserting at least one into each pot. The pump fires for short bursts - typically one to several minutes, a few times per day. This suits coco or soil-based grows where you want targeted delivery rather than a full tray flood. A digital timer (sold separately) is strongly recommended for drip mode to achieve the precision the method demands.
The 16-litre tank is sized to slide directly under the G-Tools tray table, keeping your footprint tight. Pair this kit with a suitable digital timer and a pH and EC meter to keep your nutrient solution dialled in. If you are running the system in an enclosed cabinet, a small thermometer to monitor reservoir temperature will help prevent root-zone stress during warmer months.
Grower’s Note: With ebb & flow systems, the length of each flood period matters as much as frequency. Start with shorter floods and check how quickly your medium drains before extending contact time. Rockwool and clay pebbles drain fast and suit longer floods; soil and coco hold moisture longer, so keep flood durations brief or switch to the drip configuration entirely.
