AutoPot Watering Systems UK

AutoPot watering systems feed plants from a raised reservoir using gravity and the AQUAvalve5. They need no mains-water connection, timer or irrigation pump for normal mineral feeding. Choose easy2grow for two compact pots or 1Pot for individual 15 litre modules. The 1Pot XL uses 25 litre pots. XXL holds 35 or 50 litre fabric pots. The range also includes FlexiTanks, pipe, filters, fittings and replacement valve parts.

Choosing an AutoPot watering system

Start with the root volume and number of plants. The easy2grow tray holds two compact pots side by side and suits tight spaces. A 1Pot module gives each 15 litre pot its own tray, so you can spread plants around a room. The 1Pot XL increases root volume to 25 litres. FlexiPot and XXL modules suit growers who want fabric pots and larger root zones.

Every module still needs the right reservoir, pipework and filter. Current AQUAvalve5 systems use 9mm supply pipe at the module. We also stock 6mm parts for older installations. Check the valve and pipe generation before ordering a replacement fitting; similar-looking connectors are not interchangeable.

How gravity-fed AutoPot watering works

Raise the reservoir so gravity can move solution through the supply pipe. The AQUAvalve5 admits a shallow level into each tray, then closes. It does not reopen until the plant has used the available solution. That plant-controlled cycle removes the need for a timer and avoids pumping nutrient solution around the room.

The tray must sit level and the AQUAvalve must be fixed firmly into its tray fitting. Keep loose growing media away from the valve chamber. Fit the correct in-line filter at the reservoir and clean it regularly. These simple checks matter more than adding extra pressure.

Setup note: Fill and test the system with plain water before adding plants or nutrients. Watch every tray complete a fill-and-stop cycle. Correct any tilted tray, loose valve or wrong pipe fitting before plants go in.

Reservoir size and nutrient choice

A larger reservoir changes temperature, EC and pH more slowly, but it still needs routine checks. Size it for plant count, root volume and the number of unattended days you need. Our hydroponic reservoir sizing guide gives a practical starting point. The water-change guide explains when to top up and when to replace the full solution.

Use a clean, fully soluble mineral nutrient for the simplest setup. AutoPot allows suitable organic liquid feeds with AQUAvalve5 and 9mm pipework. Organic feeding needs extra circulation and cleaning. Follow the feed maker's instructions and the current AutoPot nutrient guidance. Never leave thick or settling feed in narrow pipework.

A compact two-pot starting point

Best for: two plants sharing one AQUAvalve5 tray.

The easy2grow system keeps the footprint small and can be extended later with matching modules.

What else will you need?

  • Reservoir: match the capacity to plant demand and refill interval.
  • Filter: use the correct size for the tank outlet and supply pipe.
  • Pipe and fittings: confirm 9mm, 6mm or 16mm before ordering.
  • Root control: fit the correct disc or PotSock for the chosen module.
  • Meter: monitor EC and pH when feeding mineral nutrients.
  • Shut-off taps: isolate branches when cleaning or removing a module.

Read the nutrient, pH and EC guide before mixing a new feed. If the reservoir pH keeps rebounding, use our rising-pH diagnostic. For pumped dripper systems rather than valve-fed trays, compare the irrigation systems range.

Frequently asked questions

Do AutoPot systems need electricity?

No. Standard AutoPot irrigation uses gravity pressure and an AQUAvalve5, not a feed pump.

Do AutoPot systems need mains water?

No. A raised reservoir supplies the system without a permanent mains-water connection.

Which AutoPot system suits large plants?

Choose 1Pot XL for 25 litres or XXL for 35 and 50 litres.

Can I extend an AutoPot system later?

Yes. Add compatible modules while keeping reservoir capacity and pipe layout within specification.

Can I use organic nutrients in AutoPots?

Yes, with compatible feed, AQUAvalve5 pipework and the extra cleaning AutoPot specifies.

Why is my AutoPot tray overflowing?

Turn off the tank, level the tray, clean the valve and check its fitting.
