The G-Tools Nursery 1m² is a purpose-built propagation cabinet that triples your usable growing area with three stacked floors totalling 2m². It suits home growers, market gardeners and anyone who needs a reliable, self-managing supply of seedlings, rooted cuttings or fresh microgreens.
Each of the three floors sits beneath two Sanlight Flex 20W LED panels. At 20W per lamp and six lamps in total, the cabinet draws just 120W while delivering the correct spectral balance for germination and early vegetative growth. Sanlight's LED technology is well regarded for its efficiency and longevity, making this a sensible long-term investment for continuous propagation cycles.
The WiFi Smartbox installed in the top compartment is the practical heart of the cabinet. Its four sockets include two that you programme through a smartphone app. Set your photoperiod for the LED lights and your watering intervals for the pump independently. Once the schedule is dialled in, daily management comes down to topping up the water tank - everything else is automated.
For seed raising and cuttings, compatible trays with propagation plugs drop straight into the ebb-and-flow trays on each floor. The plugs support both direct sowing and vegetative cuttings, so you can run mixed batches across floors simultaneously. When young plants are ready to transplant, nutrients can be added directly to the reservoir; the circulation pump keeps the solution well mixed and aerated. For microgreens, cellulose growing mats laid in the trays and seeded with arugula, radish, alfalfa or similar crops work extremely well under these low-mounted LEDs.
If you intend to use the Nursery in a shared space or want tighter environmental control, opt for the plexiglass door upgrade at the time of ordering. It keeps humidity inside the cabinet, reduces light spill and makes the unit look neat in a kitchen, utility room or growing area. Pair the Nursery with G-Tools' compatible seed plugs and cellulose mats, both available separately, to get the most from the ebb-and-flow system from day one.
Grower’s Note: Seedlings and microgreens need high relative humidity - typically 70-80% - during early stages, so resist the urge to over-ventilate the cabinet. Keep the water tank clean between cycles: rinse it thoroughly and allow it to dry before switching crop types, particularly when moving from nutrient solution back to plain water for microgreens. Rooting cuttings benefit from a light feed of propagation-specific nutrient at roughly a quarter of the standard dose once callus formation begins.
