Sanlight EVO 3-80 1.5 LED Grow Light

The Sanlight EVO 3-80 1.5 is a premium Austrian-engineered LED grow light built for growers who refuse to compromise on light quality. It suits anyone growing in a tent or cabinet where ceiling height is limited and long-term reliability matters.

Sanlight has been a dominant force in professional horticultural LED lighting across German-speaking Europe for several years. Their EVO series represents the current peak of that development, with LED chips delivering over 3 µmol/J of photon efficacy. The 90° lens design is a genuine practical advantage in confined spaces. Many LED panels spread light poorly when hung close to the canopy, creating hot spots directly below the fixture. The EVO 3-80's optics maintain even distribution at short hanging distances, making it ideal for grow cabinets where you may only have 30-40 cm of clearance above the plants. One of the strongest arguments for spending more on a Sanlight is the modular architecture. After several years of continuous use, LED output inevitably declines. With most fixtures, that means replacing the entire unit. With the EVO series, you swap out the LED modules only, fitting the latest generation chips when available. Over a growing career, that approach saves significant money and waste.

The optional plug-in dimmer is worth adding at purchase. It lets you reduce output during propagation and early vegetative growth, when seedlings and cuttings need gentler conditions. The sunrise simulation function ramps intensity gradually at the start of each photoperiod, which reduces plant stress and is particularly useful for photoperiod-sensitive strains. The dimmer is separately priced but very affordable relative to the light itself.

Grower’s Note: During propagation and the first two weeks of vegetative growth, dial the EVO 3-80 back to 40-60% via the plug-in dimmer. Young roots cannot yet support rapid transpiration driven by high light intensity, and softer light at this stage encourages compact, well-rooted plants before you ramp up to full power for flowering.
