The Prima Klima PK125 ECblue is a 125mm EC inline fan rated at 680 m³/h, built for growers who want precise, automated climate control without excess noise or wasted electricity. It suits tent and cabinet set-ups where temperature management matters and running costs need to stay in check.
EC technology is the key difference here. Where a conventional AC fan runs at fixed speeds determined by its winding, the ECblue motor accepts a continuously variable signal, letting you dial in exactly the airflow your space needs at any given moment. At lights-off, the fan can tick along at a low minimum. At lights-on, it ramps to whatever maximum you have set. The result is a quieter night cycle and a cooler, more controlled day cycle - without you touching a dial.
The RJ45 port on the fan body is designed for the Prima Klima ECTC-1 digital controller, sold separately. That controller holds the temperature sensor and the logic, not the fan itself. This matters practically: mount the fan at the apex of your grow room where warm air collects, and run the RJ45 cable to the ECTC-1 mounted somewhere you can actually reach. You check and adjust your temperature target and speed limits from outside the growing space. No more climbing over kit to change a setting.
At 125mm and 680 m³/h, this fan is well matched to grow tents in the 1.0 m² to 1.5 m² range when paired with a carbon filter of equal duct diameter. For best odour control, keep the filter on the intake side of the fan and ensure your ducting runs are as short and straight as possible. Every bend adds resistance and reduces effective airflow. If you are running a longer duct run or a dense carbon filter, choose the fan's maximum speed headroom carefully - the stepless control gives you flexibility, but physics still applies.
Pair the PK125 ECblue with a Sanlight LED fixture and you have a low-heat, low-noise, low-running-cost grow environment. Sanlight panels produce far less radiant heat than HPS, so the fan will spend more time at moderate speeds, further reducing noise and energy use. For G-Tools Bonanza or similar sealed cabinets, this fan is an excellent extraction choice - the small 125mm footprint fits neatly, and the EC speed response keeps internal temperatures stable without the fan cycling on and off abruptly.
Grower’s Note: When setting your minimum fan speed on the ECTC-1, avoid dropping below around 20-25% during dark periods. Even a resting canopy transpires and benefits from gentle air movement; stagnant air at night encourages grey mould and fungal issues, particularly in humid UK environments. Set your maximum speed to maintain grow-space temperature no more than 2-3°C above ambient, and always account for seasonal variation - summer ambient temperatures in a loft or garage can push your fan to its limits, so leave headroom in your maximum speed setting.
