The PK100-ECblue is a 100mm EC inline extractor fan rated at 580m³/h, built for growers who want precise, automated climate control. It suits grow tents, grow cabinets, and small rooms where temperature swings between lights-on and lights-off demand an intelligent ventilation response.
EC fans work differently to standard AC inline fans. The electronically commutated motor runs on DC current internally, which makes it far more efficient - particularly at partial load. When your lights are off and the room cools down, the PK100-ECblue drops to whatever minimum speed you have programmed. When temperatures climb under lights, it ramps up automatically. You are not manually adjusting anything; the fan responds to the room.
The RJ45 port on the fan body connects to Prima Klima's ECTC-1 digital speed controller. On that controller you set your target temperature, your minimum fan speed, and your maximum fan speed. The temperature sensor does the rest. Crucially, the control unit does not have to sit next to the fan. If your fan is mounted at ceiling height where heat collects, the ECTC-1 can be cable-run to a lower, accessible position on the tent or wall. This is a practical advantage in any setup where the fan sits out of comfortable reach.
A 580m³/h fan at 100mm suits grow spaces up to roughly 1.5-2m³ when extracting on a short duct run, or slightly smaller spaces with carbon filters and longer ducting in the circuit. Pair it with a 100mm activated carbon filter to control odour. For lighting, this fan works well alongside a 200-400W LED or HID setup - the temperature-linked control means the fan works harder during the high-heat part of the light cycle and backs off during dark periods, saving electricity throughout.
Noise is a genuine consideration for many growers. Because the PK100-ECblue can run at genuinely low speeds rather than simply switching between fixed settings, it operates quietly during low-demand periods. EC motors also avoid the low-frequency hum that some AC motors produce at reduced voltage. If noise matters in your setup - a home grow, a shared building - this fan type is worth the extra cost over a basic AC unit.
Grower’s Note: When setting your minimum fan speed, avoid dropping below the airflow threshold needed to maintain negative pressure in your tent - typically around 20-30% for a well-sealed 100mm setup. Too low a minimum and odour can escape through zip seams during lights-off. Set your temperature setpoint 2-3°C above your target canopy temperature to give the fan room to respond before the space overheats.
