Grow Cabinets

Grow cabinets are sealed, insulated boxes that hold a complete growing environment in a small footprint. They let you crop salad leaves, herbs, chillies, strawberries or microgreens indoors all year, whatever the weather does outside. Hydroponics UK stocks the full G-Tools Bonanza range, from the 0.35m² empty shell at £785 to the multi-layer Nursery 1m² box at £2,869. The 0.35m² size suits 1 to 5 plants; the 1m² size holds 2 to 10. Clima models arrive with a carbon filter, extraction and remote control, so you only add a light. Aluminium frames with PVC/XPS sandwich panels insulate heat, sound and light.

How to Choose a G-Tools Bonanza Grow Cabinet

A grow cabinet gives you a controlled growing space without building a custom room. The aluminium frame and PVC/XPS sandwich panels insulate against heat and noise. The panels also reflect light back onto your plants and block light from escaping. That sealed environment lets you crop salads, herbs, chillies, tomatoes or trays of microgreens indoors all year. G-Tools build the Bonanza range in two footprints. The 0.35m² size is fridge-sized and holds 1 to 5 plants. The 1m² size is a wardrobe-sized cabinet for 2 to 10 plants.

Decide first how much you want supplied. An empty shell is the cheapest entry point and lets you fit your own fan, filter and light. A Clima model arrives with extraction, a carbon filter and a remote control box, so you only add a lamp. If you want feeding handled too, the G-Tools 3-in-1 irrigation system drops into a 1m² cabinet and automates watering. Match the footprint to your plant count and the spec level to how hands-on you want to be.

The Bonanza Range Compared

The table below sets the main Bonanza cabinets against each other, from a bare shell you kit out yourself to a climate-controlled box and a multi-layer propagator. The 3-in-1 kit is an add-on that automates feeding inside a 1m² cabinet, not a cabinet on its own. Each is matched to its best use and a headline spec.

Best for: most first-time growers who want extraction sorted from day one

Why we rate it: it arrives light-ready with the fan, PK K2600 carbon filter and silencer already matched and balanced. That is the fiddly part done for you. Add a lamp up to 250W and grow 1 to 5 plants at 45dB.

Sizing a Cabinet and Setting It Up

Size the cabinet by plant count and final canopy height. A 0.35m² box at 176cm tall suits 1 to 5 short, trained plants, so it runs a rotation of salad leaves and herbs, or four to six chilli or dwarf tomato plants. The 1m² cabinet at 176 × 118 × 78cm holds 2 to 10. For trays of microgreens or seedlings, the Nursery multi-layer stacks three growing floors into a single footprint. Both cabinets stand at fridge or wardrobe height, so check the ceiling and the doorway you carry it through. Sliding doors on the 1m² need no swing clearance, which helps in a tight corner or loft.

Heat is the main thing to manage in a sealed cabinet. The 0.35m² Clima extraction is rated for lights up to 250W; the 1m² Clima handles up to 600W. Keep your lamp under that ceiling and the fan copes easily. Plan on swapping the carbon filter after about 12 months of continuous running to keep odour control working. Add a grow light sized to the footprint, then train plants low with topping or LST to fit the fixed interior. If you want hands-off feeding, the 3-in-1 irrigation system removes the daily watering routine.

We sell a lot of empty shells to growers who already own a fan and light. It is the cheapest way in. For everyone else, the Clima box is the one we recommend most, which is why it is our pick above. Getting the carbon filter, silencer and extractor matched and balanced yourself is fiddly. A saturated or undersized filter is the usual reason a grow smells. Buy the extraction sorted from the start and you remove the most common headache in one go.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a grow cabinet and a grow tent?

A cabinet has rigid insulated panels; a tent is fabric over a frame. The Bonanza shell insulates heat, blocks sound and light, and locks shut. A tent is lighter and cheaper but offers less insulation and no security.

How many plants fit in a G-Tools Bonanza cabinet?

The 0.35m² size holds 1 to 5 plants; the 1m² size holds 2 to 10. Final numbers depend on pot size and training. Topped, low-trained plants let you fit more in a fixed-height cabinet.

What is the difference between an empty shell and a Clima model?

An empty shell has no fan, filter or light; a Clima arrives with extraction and a carbon filter. The Clima box adds a fan, PK carbon filter, silencer and remote control box. You supply only the lamp.

Does a grow cabinet come with a light?

No, all Bonanza cabinets are sold without a lamp. Choose an LED sized to the footprint from our grow lights range. Keep wattage within the Clima extraction limit of 250W or 600W.

How quiet is a Bonanza Clima cabinet?

The Clima models measure 45dB at 1 metre with the doors closed. A built-in silencer keeps the extractor discreet. That is about as loud as a quiet office or a soft conversation.

Can I automate watering in a grow cabinet?

Yes, the G-Tools 3-in-1 system runs drip, ebb and flow, or deep water culture. It includes a 36-litre tank, pumps and 10 net cups. It is built specifically for the Bonanza 1m² range.

Build a full grow room around your cabinet. Light it with the right grow lights. Set up feeding on ebb and flow trays. Manage heat and odour with the correct ventilation and filters.
